BESSER - BEENLEIGH BATCHING SYSTEM / Job No:#1261 MPA designed and installed a fully automated batching system for the Besser Block Plant at Beenleigh, Queensland. This system controls the cement mixers, which supply concrete for the new block machine; the block machine then manufactures concrete pavers and blocks. In this batching system three mixers receive recipe components from the twelve compartments of adjoining in-ground bins and weight conveyors. The standard production formats use either the main mixer systems simultaneously, or alternates mixer systems while in production. The control system co-ordinates sand, aggregates, cement, fly ash, coloured oxides and liquid cement additives to the recipe specification. The flexibility of recipe programming ensures a variety of colours and effects can be achieved. The program monitors recipe components and inputs, while also logging the date, time, recipe weight and batching statistical data. The components of each recipe are therefore consistent to exact specifications. The batching cycle also allows different recipes to be sequenced. Operators are alerted to any deviations in weight, cycle, time or general malfunctions immediately via a series of alarms. The installation of Citect screens ensures operators have constant access to additional information, such as the status of recipes, water usage, mixing time, mix moisture content and general updates of the batching system process.
PLC SIEMENS S5-115U control and PLC rack + 6 x Remote SIEMENS S7-300 IO stations running on Profibus DPs. MPA also supplied the switchboard, which contains PLC electrical equipment. PROJECT COST $170,000
